Help Us Name Our Algorithm

Countdown's numbers round used to have a machine with a name: CECIL, short for Countdown's Electronic Calculator In Leeds. It picked the random target, and the name was a nod to Cecil Korer, the Channel 4 executive who commissioned the show back in 1982.

Rigid Digit has something similar behind the scenes. Every puzzle you play is built by a program that tries every way of combining the numbers, counts how many routes reach each target, and picks a puzzle that suits the level. It does a lot of the heavy lifting, and it doesn't even have a name. We think it deserves one, and in CECIL's honour, it should spell something.

Our one requirement: every word has to earn its letter, so no sneaking in a "for" or an "and" to make it fit. Here's our shortlist so far:

EDITH
Exhaustive Digit Iteration Targeting Hits
Our front-runner. It's exactly what the program does: it tries every combination until it hits the target. Edith also happens to be one of our earliest and most regular players. Hi Edith!
TERESA
Tries Every Route, Exact Solutions Always
Says exactly what makes Rigid Digit rigid: exact answers only. It's also a nod to Teresa Teng, the much-loved Taiwanese singer.
RIDLEY
Rigid Iteration, Digit Logic, Equation Yielding
Our own name is baked right in.
GLADYS
Generated Logic And Digit Yielding System
Sounds like she's been quietly running things since 1982. Loses a point for the "And".
RUDY
Rigid Utility for Digit Yielding
Short and friendly, but that "for" is doing some heavy lifting.
NIGEL
Number-Input Generation & Equation Logic
Very British game show. The "&" is cheating a little, though.

Which gets your vote? Got a better one? Leave your pick in the comments below. And before anyone suggests it: yes, we considered Rigid-y McDigitface. Sadly, it doesn't spell anything.
